PROJECTS

Our group is focused on three main goals:

Emphasizing the importance of developing and improving literacy skills for all ages.
Marketing positive attitudes towards literacy and reading in the community.
Informing the community about pre-K school readiness and helping kids be ready to start school.

CURRENT PROJECTS

Distribute flyers and handouts about pre-K school readiness from SJSD widely in the community.
Follow and support the implementation of Dolly Parton's Imagination Library in St. Joseph.
In cooperation with the Saint Joseph Mustangs, host "Play, Read, & Eat" events in Summer 2024 for elementary ages kids to meet members of the baseball team and play and read together.
Plan a "Community Reads" program for adults to all read the same book at the same time, including an author visit, multiple public programs and lectures, and access to copies of the book all over the city.
Engage the local business community in supporting reading and literacy efforts with their employees.
